Imam Feisal’s Philadelphia Inquirer Op-Ed: “Immigrant faiths, U.S. change each other”

Imam Feisal contributed an op-ed to the Philadelphia Inquirer in which he discusses the ways that religious traditions transform and adapt in the American setting. Imam Feisal argues that this transformation has happened to faith groups throughout the history of immigration to the US and the Muslim community in the US must develop a uniquely American voice in the Muslim world, saying:

“Muslims in America will adapt again. The American Muslim community must invest in creating our own homegrown scholars and imams, who have lived what their communities are going through, who can relate to their experience and can provide leadership and help our people understand what is eternal in Islam and what is contextual.”
